District 5 Open Positions Flyer

District 5 Treasurer Position Open Now!!!!!

The duties and responsibilities of the District Treasurer are as follows: 

Generally as described in the AA Service Manual

Recommended completion of a GSR term or experience as Group Treasurer

Attends monthly District Meetings

Picks up mail from District 5’s post office box

Keeps a current record of group contributions to the District

Makes deposits and cuts checks for District expenses

Provide financial statement at the monthly District meeting

Be prepared to determine if funds are available for the GSR Scholarship program at the District meeting 1 month prior to Area Assemblies

Present an annual budget for next fiscal year, in October, to be taken back to the Groups for approval at the November/December District meeting

Update budget as needed when new motions are approved by the District Committee

Two-year term rotating on even number years

There is a minimum 2-year sobriety requirement for this position, and it is an elected position. The term for this position will start immediately and run through October 1, 2019

All available parties should attend the next District Meeting on August 12 at TEC starting at 4:00 and be prepared to give a service resume.

 

 

Cooperation with Treatment Facilities Committee Chair Position Opening

The purpose of the District CTF Committee is to coordinate the work of individual AA members and groups who carry the message to alcoholics in treatment facilities, and work to clarify what AA can and cannot do, within the Traditions, to help alcoholics in treatment.

Generally as described in the AA Service Manual 

Attend and report at monthly District meetings

Contact treatment facilities in the Central Oregon Area monthly

Receive and respond to requests from treatment facilities in the Central Oregon Area

Attend November Area Assembly

Two-year term rotating on even number years

There is a two-year sobriety requirement for this position, and it is appointed by the DCM. The term for this position will run from October 1, 2018, through October 1, 2020

Archives Committee Chair Position Opening

The purpose of the Archives Committee is more than mere custodial activity; it is the means by which we collect, preserve and share the rich and meaningful heritage of our fellowship. The Archives Committee is to receive, classify and index all relevant material, including, but not limited to, administrative files, records, correspondence, literary works and artifacts considered to have importance to Alcoholics Anonymous in District 5. This is done through workshops, presentations, mailings, etc.

Grapevine Committee Chair Position Opening

The purpose of the District Grapevine Chair is to act as advocate for the Grapevine/La Viña at the district and group level, alerting the groups to the use of the Grapevine and La Viña monthly publications and books as recovery tools.

Generally as described in the AA Service Manual 

Attend and report at monthly District meetings

Visit groups and talk about the Grapevine both at the group level and meeting level as the group will allow

Oregon Area 58 Service Position Elections in September!!!

The following positions will be up for election at the September Assembly.  

Treasurer

Alternate Treasurer

Secretary

Registrar

The requirements and duties for these positions can be found in the General Service Manual and in the Area 58 Guidelines.

These positions are elected positions.  Elections will take place at the September Assembly.

All available parties should attend the September Assembly and be prepared to give a service resume.

The Assembly will be held in Welches, OR September 21-23, 2018.  See the Area 58 website for full assembly details.

Oregon Area 58 Committee Chair Positions

There are several Area Committee Chairs that will be rotating at the November Assembly.

  The following positions will be available: 

Access 

Cooperation with the Professional Community South

Hospitals Co-Chair

Public Information North

Treatment Facilities South 

Corrections Co-Chair

Finance Committee Assistant Chair

Translation/Interpretation Co-Chair

Assistant Webmaster. 

All of these positions are a two-year commitment with the exception of the Finance Committee Assistant Chair which is a three-year commitment.  Considerations and appointments to fill these positions will NOT start until after the September assembly.  Please do not submit your service resumes until after the assembly.  At that time you may submit them to Ron W, the Area Chair at chair@aa-oregon.org who will be making the appointments for these positions.
